Governance at Sir Martin Frobisher

Currently at Sir Martin Frobisher Academy, a new Local Governing body (LGB) is in place as of Thursday 2nd May. A Local Governing Body is to support the Headteacher in agreeing the strategic direction of the school, the proper implementation of statutory requirements and the monitoring and evaluation of the School Development Plan and targets.

REAch2 has chosen a group made up of Trust leaders, the Executive Headteacher, and professionals with expertise. One of these is Mr Gordon Dewar, who is currently Chair of the Board at Sir Martin Frobisher Academy.

The Local Governing Body has terms of reference which guide how it works, these can be found on the Governance page on the REAch2 website. The Body will meet twice a term, as a minimum, to discuss educational progress and achievement, financial stability and issues such as safeguarding, premises, IT and staffing. Members will also be linked to areas of the school, such as safeguarding or finance to make sure they understand how the school is being run and also to make sure that all the legal compliance is in order.

The Body is supported by a clerk.

If you have any further questions about the Local Governing Body and how it works, please email the Senior Governance Advisor at [email protected]
