Our Academy

On September 1st 2016, Frobisher Primary and Nursery School converted to an academy. Our new name is Sir Martin Frobisher Academy and we are sponsored by the REAch2 Academy Trust. REAch2 Academy Trust has a clear moral purpose with all of its schools, and this is encapsulated in their seven touchstones. These touchstones now form a key part of Sir Martin Frobisher’s vision of ‘Aim high, Work hard, Achieve together’. You will notice many references to them when you visit our school.

This is an exciting time for Sir Martin Frobisher Academy and we are looking forward to working with Mrs Sarah Barton as Executive Headteacher, the community and our Academy Trust to becoming a great school in the very near future!

Background

A school has been found on this site since 1966, and Sir Martin Frobisher Academy has become a well established and important part of the local community. Our school caters for children from the ages of 3 to 11, and is well equipped to deliver all aspects of the National Curriculum. We are an open and accessible school, working in partnership with parents and carers to ensure that all of our pupils are able to achieve their best. We value the roles of each individual within our school community – staff, pupils, parents, carers, governors and visitors – in achieving the best for all of our children.

Transition and Transfer

On completing their education at Frobisher the children usually transfer either to Clacton Coastal Academy or Clacton County High School.

The staff and governors of Frobisher endeavour to build up good links between ourselves and the neighbouring secondary school in order to ensure that children can transfer from their primary school to their secondary schools with the minimum of disruption.

Admission

There are approximately 310 pupils on roll including the Nursery, and up to 45 children may be admitted to the school each year. Preference is given to looked after children followed by children with a sibling attending the school followed by children living in the priority admission area. Families living outside the area are very welcome to apply for a place here and for many families in Clacton, Frobisher is their school of choice. Our most recent Ofsted Report can be found here and recent school data can be found here.

Admission to the school is administered via School Planning and Admissions at County Hall, Chelmsford. You can apply for a place online at http://www.essex.gov.uk/Education-Schools/Schools/Admissions/Pages/Apply-Online.aspx
