- Sir Martin Frobisher Academy Wednesday 13th May 1:15pm to 2:30pm
As I am sure you are aware, it is extremely important that the transition into school is as smooth as possible. We would like to invite you to attend several sessions to support your child in starting at our school.
Our first session is for parents and carers and is an opportunity to meet key staff who work within the school including Mr. Wood (Executive Headteacher) and Mrs. Lamb (Early Years’ Leader and Class Teacher). This session will provide information about the transition process and life at Sir Martin Frobisher Academy. You will also have the chance to look around the Early Years’ classroom and outdoor environment.
This first session will take place on: Tuesday 9th June 2025 2.00pm – 3.00pm
As part of the transition, we will be completing Nursery and Pre-school visits so that we can discuss your child’s current progress and development with their key worker/s and see your child in their current setting. Home visits will also be organised, and you will be contacted directly to book these. This is regular practice when children begin school.

Completing this will help your child’s class team to get to know them better. There is also a School Readiness booklet to help you see what you might wish to do to prepare your child for life in school. At Sir Martin Frobisher we use ‘Tapestry’ to support transition – this is an online ‘learning journal’ where we will work together to record and track your child’s progress and development. This will help provide you with additional information to support your child starting school. There will be videos of your child’s classroom shared over the summer for you to share with them and stories with the adults in their class. Please ensure you complete the Tapestry information form included in your pack and return to the school.
Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child into the Sir Martin Frobisher family and I look forward to working with you.
